Dear Alumni,
One year has passed since we celebrated 40 Mechina years. Many alumni attended the ceremony that was held in honor of the occasion, and on this day, we decided to found the Alumni Association. This past year, the Board of Directors met and decided upon the various ways we would go about strengthening the Mechina, as well as the relations between its alumni. This year, another 200 students joined the Association, most of whom are already studying diligently at the Hebrew University, and some of whom are doing so at different universities and colleges across Israel. Many of our recent graduates have been accepted to prestigious faculties, and we are proud to say that five of them have begun their medical studies! From your own experiences, you know that it isn't easy for Mechina students to adjust to university life in Israel. They face many challenges, including language barriers, age differences, social difficulties, and more. On breaks between classes, many of our alumni come back to our offices, to share with us their difficulties, and to receive assistance and motivation. We comfort them and remind them not to give up - if they look around, they'll see thousands of other alumni who have succeeded: thousands of alumni who are today doctors, lawyers, teachers, professors, engineers, and more. You, our alumni, are the examples and models for today's students. When they hear of your successes, they become motivated and understand that they, too, will be able to succeed at this unimaginable experience of studying in a foreign language, far from friends and family. In order to motivate our students, we need you, your knowledge, your social involvement, and your willingness to support the Mechina and our students. You will receive our newsletters and through them, stay updated about what is happening in the Mechina and the Alumni Association, and assist us in assisting the Mechina and our students! Sincerely Yours, Professor Mimi Ajzenstadt, Head of the Rothberg International School |
